Laser threads

LASER THREADS

By: Doctor Carlos Rosales

Guatemala

ABSTRACT:

Introduction: One of the most common problems of the face aging by physicians who do esthetics is to improve the lower third of the face of patients, the flaccidity they present many times is marked and it is only possible to treat it with surgery, which is very expensive and with recovery prolonged. That reason is thought of fast, comfortable and inexpensive procedures, finding the 10 watt diode laser an easy and safe alternative for our patients. The laser is used with 400 micron optical fiber, pulsed mode at 8 watts. This is the reason why I called it “laser threads”.

Objective: The main objective is demonstrating a true tensor effect with the use of the diode laser in the lower face. Then demonstrate the formation of new collagen and compare it with the traditional technique of pdo threads.

Data synthesis: I included, men and women older than 35 years, which showed flaccidity of the lower third of face. Without pathologist. Total of the patients: 7 women and 2 men. Using only one session. Marked the vectors in the lower face like the traditional threads, firing in pulsed mode the laser by means of an optical fiber. Prior placement of anesthesia in the thread path. The fiber is placed aided by means of a needle 18 G x 1 inch. Then a pressure bandage is placed for 3 days in the area worked.

Conclusions: All patients showed satisfaction with the results; two complained of mild pain after the procedure, all said they recommend the procedure. The laser diode procedures a true lifting effect, producing new collagen. (The laser diode produces a true lifting effect, produced by the new collage. (Waiting the pathology where compare the new collagen formed by the laser vrs PDO threads; will be ready for August this year).

INDICATIONS: Men and women who want to improve the appearance of facial sagging, without the use of external substances or surgeries those who have a slight facial sagging.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Patients who have some pathology such as clotting disorders, autoimmune diseases or some chronic uncontrolled disease, patients with marked sagging of the face who are candidates for surgical facelift.

MATERIALS AND METHODS:

MATERIALS: 980 nm 10 watt Diodo laser with 400 micron fiber optics. Patient and doctor protection lenses. White pencil to mark the vectors. Everything you need for asepsis and antisepsis. 2% lidocaine with epinephrine 0.0125mg. Anesthesia: 5 cc of lidocaine with epinephrine, 1 cc of bicarbonate and 6 cc of saline. Needles 32Gx4mm, 18Gx1, 23Gx3 1/8 Braun. 12cc syringes with 21Gx1 needle. Compressive bandage and chin guard. Camera.

TECHNIC: Make tumescent anesthesia on similar facial vectors used in pdo thread technique. The optic fiber is introduced with the help of an 18G needle, in a retrograde and pulsed form at 400ms with thermal relaxation time of 200ms, the optic fiber is removed at 8 watts achieving the tensing effect, and then a lipolysis of the jowl area is continuously made 10 watts, with known technical of laser lipolysis. The area is cleaned and tension bandage is placed for 3 days and 4 nights. Remember to take photos before and after the procedure.

BENEFITS: Using a diode laser prevents rejections of foreign substances for the body, such as threads, fillers or many other techniques that even patients do not want to put on because of the risk of rejections or autoimmune effects, achieving with this technique equal or better than with the traditional PDO threads technique. Because of the thermal effect that all lasers perform, the shrinkage of the skin is achieved safely and effectively.
